How to start training:
Before a new student can start their flight training, each student needs to complete the following steps required by TSA and FTM policies:
  1. Stop by our office to fill out one of our Rental Agreements
  2. Bring in valid unexpired Driver’s license and Passport/Birth Certificate for copies to be made for student file.
  3. Purchase our recommended Private Pilot Cessna Flight Training kit by King Schools for $402.22. We keep these kits in stock at our office. We highly suggest studying at least the first three online ground lessons before scheduling your first flight lesson. 
  4. Schedule your first flight lesson!
Foreign Students:
Foreign Students: Please visit www.flightschoolcandidates.gov/home and follow the steps in the Application Guide to start the process for your approval to begin flight training. Once the TSA sends us notice that you are approved, you can begin training with us. We will need you to complete the above mentioned items in addition to us getting copies of your visa and taking a personal photo for your student file.

Sport Pilot Course -Part 61
Total Time: 20 hours minimum which consists of at least: 
Dual Training (With an Instructor): 
15  hours minimum of flight training with an instructor on the Sport Pilot areas of operation including: 
  • 2 hours of cross country flight training
  • 10 Takeoff/Landings at an airport
​Solo: 5 hours minimum of solo flying in a single engine airplane on the Sport Pilot areas of operation including: 
  • One Solo cross country flight of at least 75 Nautical miles distance consisting of:
  1. ​​full stop landing at a minimum of two points.
  2. One segment of the flight consisting of a straight-line distance of at least 25 Nautical Miles from the original point of departure.

Private Pilot Course -Part 141 or 61
Total Time: 40 hours minimum which consists of at least (61 requirements): 
Dual Training (With an Instructor): 
20 hours minimum of flight training with an instructor on the Private Pilot areas of operation including: 
  • 3 hours of cross country flight training in a single engine airplane; 
  • 3 hours of night flight training in a single engine airplane, that includes at least: 
  • 1 cross country flight of over 100 nm total distance; and 
  • 10 Takeoff/Landing  to a full stop with each involving a flight in      the traffic pattern at an airport. 
  • 3 hours of flight training by reference to instruments in a single engine airplane; and 
  • 3 hours of flight training in a single engine airplane within the 60 days prior to the practical test. 
Solo:  10 hours minimum of solo flying in a single engine airplane on the Private Pilot areas of operation including: 
  • 5 hours of solo cross country flying; with the first segments of the flights consisting of a straight-line distance of at least 50 Nautical Miles from the original point of departure.
  • 1 solo cross country flight of at least 150nm total distance with full stop landings at 3 points and the first segment of flight being at least 50nm from the original point of departure; and 
  • 3 T/O's and landings to a full stop at an airport with an operating control tower.
Ground Training: 35 hours (Covered by the Cessna Course)

​Instrument Pilot Course -Part 141 or 61
Prerequisites: Must Hold Private Pilot Certificate 
Dual Training (With an Instructor): 
(141 requirements) 35 hours of flight training consisting of:
  • 1 cross country flight of at least 250 nautical miles along airways or ATC-directed routing that consists of:
  • one segment of the flight consisting of at least a straight-line distance of 100 nautical miles from original point of departure
  • Involves an instrument approach at each Airport.
  • Involves three different kinds of approaches with the use of navigation systems
Ground Training: 35 hours (Covered by the Cessna Course)       
Simulator Training: The 35 hours of flight instruction required can consist of 14 hours in our full motion simulator.  This not only saves you money but allows for flexibility in your training.

Commercial Pilot Course -Part 141 or 61 
Total Time: 120 hours minimum which consists of at least (141 requirements):
Dual Training (With an Instructor): 
55 hours minimum of flight training with an instructor consisting of:
  • 10 hours of Instrument Training (5 hours can be done in Simulator)
  • 10 hours in an airplane with retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch propeller.
  • One 2 hour cross country flight in daytime conditions consisting of a total straight-line distance of 100 nautical miles from original point of departure.
  • One 2 hour cross country flight in night conditions consisting of a total straight-line distance of 100 nautical miles from original point of departure
  • 3 hours in preparation for the practical test.
Ground Training: 35 hours (Covered by the Cessna Course)

Flight Instructor Course -Part 61
Prerequisites: Must hold Commercial and Instrument certificate.
Dual Training (With an Instructor): 
25 hours minimum of flight training with an instructor on the areas listed below:
        (1) Fundamentals of instructing;
        (2) Technical subject areas;
        (3) Preflight preparation;
        (4) Preflight lesson on a maneuver to be performed in flight;
        (5) Preflight procedures;
        (6) Airport and seaplane base operations;
        (7) Takeoffs, landings, and go-arounds;
        (8) Fundamentals of flight;
        (9) Performance maneuvers;
        (10) Ground reference maneuvers;
        (11) Slow flight, stalls, and spins;
        (12) Basic instrument maneuvers;
        (13) Emergency operations; and
        (14) Post-flight procedures.
Ground Training: 15 hours (Covered by the Jeppessen Course)  


Flight Instructor Instrument Course -Part 61
Total Time: Must hold Commercial and Instrument certificate.
Dual Training (With an Instructor): 15 hours minimum of flight training with an instructor on the areas listed below:
       (1) Fundamentals of instructing;
       (2) Technical subject areas;
       (3) Preflight preparation;
       (4) Preflight lesson on a maneuver to be performed in flight;
       (5) Air traffic control clearances and procedures;
       (6) Flight by reference to instruments;
       (7) Navigation systems;
       (8) Instrument approach procedures;
       (9) Emergency operations; and
      (10) Postflight procedures.
Ground Training: 15 hours (Covered by the Jeppessen Course)
